About Us

Who We Are

Empowerment and Equity Through Education (EETE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing equal access to quality education and opportunity for children, youth, and families in underserved communities.
Founded in 2006 by Elizabeth Wilson-Anstey, EETE began as a simple act of kindness, shipping gently used textbooks to schools and hospitals in Guyana. That gesture of compassion grew into a global movement connecting people, resources, and hope across borders.

Today, EETE continues to bridge educational gaps, provide mentorship, support literacy, and deliver humanitarian aid to those most in need. We believe that education is not a privilege, but a human right, one that can transform lives, families, and communities for generations to come.

Our Story

The story of EETE began when Elizabeth Wilson-Anstey returned to her home country, Guyana, in 2005. She visited local schools and hospitals and was deeply moved by the lack of books, supplies, and essential materials. Determined to make a difference, she collected textbooks, teaching aids, and medical supplies from New York schools and shipped them to Guyana.

That small initiative grew into a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in November 2006. Since then, EETE has supported literacy programs, college-prep initiatives, and humanitarian efforts in Guyana, the Caribbean, and the United States.
Our work has been recognized by educational institutions, community leaders, and grateful families whose lives have been touched by the power of education and compassion
